• Optional analytics & advertising cookies - full analytics and ad cookies only if you enable those toggles and click Save My Choices or Accept All on the cookie banner. If you continue browsing without choosing, we enable analytics cookies only (not marketing/ad cookies) after a short time so we can measure basic site usage. We load Google Analytics directly (measurement ID G-FSZT4WBRCB) and, when configured, Google Ads conversion tags. If you turn analytics off in the banner, Google may still receive limited, cookieless measurement signals for aggregated modeling (Google Consent Mode) - not full tracking cookies.
• Aggregate, anonymized usage counts - our own server counts page loads (page viewed, device type, approximate city). No cookies or personal identifiers are used and IP addresses are not stored, so these counts cannot be tied to you.
• Strictly necessary browser storage - listing cache and manage codes in localStorage (not used for ad tracking).
• When you post a listing, you choose what contact information to include (name, phone, email). Anything you put on the listing becomes publicly visible to anyone who visits JSE.
• We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. We never have.
• You can edit or remove your own listing at any time using the "manage code" we showed you when you posted it.
• Optional accounts let you sign in with Google, email/password, or phone (password or texted code) to see linked listings, haul requests, and inquiries under Manage. Account data is stored with our database host (Supabase). Analytics and ad cookies are optional and only load if you enable them in the cookie banner.

Information you provide on a listing

• Listing content: title, material category, quantity, free-text description, optional photo.
• Location: the address you type. We pass it to a geocoding service (see Section 4) to convert it to a latitude and longitude so we can pin it on the map. The street address, city, state, ZIP, and the resulting coordinates are stored on the listing.
• Contact details (optional): any combination of name, phone number, and email address. You must provide at least one. Whatever you provide is shown publicly on the listing so counterparties can reach you.

Information stored in your own browser

• Listing cache: a copy of the active listings, so the page loads quickly. Plain app data, not a tracker.
• Your manage codes: a small list of the manage codes you have generated by posting, so you can return to manage your own listings without retyping the code. Stored only on the device you posted from. Clearing your browser storage removes them.

We store these in your browser's localStorage, not in cookies. They never leave your device unless you yourself paste a manage code into the "Manage" page.

Book a Haul, hauler signup, and contractor sign-in

• Haul requests: if you use Book a Haul (online form or phone), we store the details you provide so the operator can follow up and, when appropriate, share the request with independent hauling providers.
• Hauler applications: information you submit at hauler signup for review before any partnership is offered.
• Contractor sign-in: email and one-time codes for approved contractors who view user haul requests on the contractor dashboard.

JSE uses this data to operate the marketplace and optional introductions. We are not the carrier, payment intermediary, or guarantor of any haul.

Information we do not collect

• No required accounts to post - guest email/text manage codes still work. Optional sign-in (Google, email/password, or phone) is available if you want one place for your activity.
• No advertising identifiers unless you enable marketing cookies in the banner.
• No full analytics cookies unless you enable analytics in the banner. If analytics is off, Google may still receive limited, cookieless pings for aggregated modeling (Consent Mode) - not persistent identifiers. If analytics is on, Google may collect page views, clicks, and similar usage signals with cookies.
• No payment information.

• Listing content and contact details are used to run the marketplace itself: showing the listing to other users so they can decide whether to reach out about the dirt or material you have or need. This is the entire purpose of the site.
• Address & coordinates are used to plot the listing on a map and to compute haul distance estimates between listings.
• Manage codes are used to authorize edits and deletions of the listing they belong to.

For visitors in the EU/UK: the legal basis for processing the contact details and content you submit is performance of a contract (you ask us to host your listing on the public board) and your decision to make it public. The legal basis for the manage-code mechanism is our legitimate interest in preventing other people from editing your listing.

The public

Listings are public. Anyone on the internet can browse them, read your description, see your address and pin location, see your name/phone/email if you included them, and see the photo you uploaded. Search engines may index them.

Our service providers

• Supabase (database and storage host, United States). Stores listing rows and uploaded photos.
• Netlify (web hosting and serverless functions, United States). Serves the website and proxies the geocoder calls.
• Photon (Komoot GmbH, Germany), U.S. Census Geocoder, and Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom) are queried server-side to convert your typed address into coordinates. Your IP address is not exposed to them; our server calls them on your behalf.
• OSRM (project-osrm.org) is queried server-side to estimate driving distance for the haul calculator.
• Google (Analytics / Ads) - Google tags load in a consent-aware mode. If you enable analytics or marketing in the cookie banner, your browser may set analytics or ad cookies and process usage data in the United States. If you leave those categories off, Google may still receive limited, cookieless measurement for aggregated modeling - not full tracking cookies.
• CARTO basemap tiles are loaded by your browser when you open the map page. CARTO will see your IP address as a normal consequence of fetching tiles. They do not set tracking cookies on JSE.

Law enforcement & legal process

We may disclose information if we are legally compelled to do so by a valid court order or subpoena, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone's safety.

JSE is hosted in the United States. If you post a listing from outside the United States, your submitted information is transferred to and stored in the United States. By posting, you consent to this transfer.

• Active listings remain visible until you delete them via your manage code or the operator removes them under our Acceptable Use Policy.
• Soft-deleted listings (you clicked delete) are hidden from the site immediately and may remain in our database for up to 90 days for backup and dispute-resolution purposes before being purged.
• Manage-code hashes live alongside the listing. When the listing is purged, the hash is purged with it. The plaintext code is never stored on our servers.
• Browser-side data stays in your browser until you clear it.

You can edit, replace, or delete your own listing at any time through /manage using the manage code we gave you when you posted.

If you have lost your manage code, or if you want us to remove a listing that contains your information that someone else posted, use our contact form. Include enough detail (the listing URL or text) to find the row.

If you are in the EU, UK, or a U.S. state with a privacy law (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, and others), you generally have the rights below. EU/UK visitors: see our dedicated GDPR information page for Article 6 bases, transfer safeguards, and supervisory-authority links.

You generally have the right to:

• request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
• ask us to delete it (subject to our need to retain it for a short time to handle disputes);
• object to our processing or restrict it;
• in the EU/UK, lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK that is the ICO (ico.org.uk).

We do not sell personal information and do not engage in "targeted advertising" or profiling, so the opt-outs that some U.S. state laws provide for those activities do not apply.

JSE is intended for adult professionals in the construction and materials-hauling industry. It is not directed to children under 16. Do not post a listing on behalf of a child.

We use HTTPS for all traffic, hash manage codes (we never store the plaintext), and limit write access to listings to a server-side function that verifies the manage-code hash. No system is perfectly secure. Do not put information on a public listing that you would not want to be public.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date in the hero above.

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts (on a Book a Haul or signup form, or by texting START to our number), we use it only to send the messages you opted in to - haul-request coordination and status updates, listing inquiry notifications, account and listing-management notices, and one-time verification codes you request.

We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in / consent information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.
